Aloha,
The fascinating journey that started on Bulgaria's Black Sea, via Morocco, Canada, and ended in California, is the insight of Alex Krastev's artistic vision, a reflection of his journey and memories from the places he has been.
Alex discovered his passion for surfing at 16 years old, too young to drive, he made his way on the bus every day after school to the local surf spot Anchor point in Taghazout - Morocco. The colorful moments from his journey to the beach and standing at the waters edge, along with the inspiration from his parents who where both artists themselves and avid beach goers and skiers, his father who spent his youth as a lifeguard, proved to be the biggest inspiration to his artistic vision.
Alex has worked for more than a decade for the giants of the surf industry, Quiksilver for 8 years and Rip Curl as being their Sr. Graphic Designer, responsible for almost every T-shirt for the last 5 years. His paintings and graphics extend beyond T-shirts and into the fine arts of all media and his art can be found in places like Whole Foods around from Santa Monica to Huntington Beach, the brand new Pasea Hotel and Spa, The Shore break in Huntington Beach, Pacifico Beer, Sunday Collab Coffee and many more. His art shows lists places like the Heritage Surf Museum, original surf shops in Laguna Beach and San Clemente and an invitation at the prestigious Green Room Festival in Yokohama Japan. His style is based from the vision he had always had of that hungry surfer looking and dreaming about the sea.
Besides his artistic background, Alex Krastev is a professional action sport graphic designer, illustrator, photographer and art director.
In 2017 Alex accepted the Sr. Global Graphic Artist position at Quiksilver and got relocated to Saint Jean de Luz - France, home of Boardriders, inc Global Head Quarters.
Initially hired as a regional Sr. Graphic Designer, his duties quickly evolved from regional art only to art and graphics satisfying the needs of all the Young Men Quiksilver apparel including but not limited to: T-shirt art, Board short art, Woven, Trims, Youth, Boys and Toddler, SMU’s, Quiksilver Women, Quiksilver Snow Apparel and Special Projects such as one of the artists for the Netflix’s Stranger Things / Quiksilver Apparel Collection.
